Promotion & Tenure

Promotion and tenure are awarded to faculty who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship and teaching and who have provided solid service to their field and to the university. Please see below for workshops and resources for promotion and tenure related matters.

1. JABSOM Promotion & Tenure 101 Workshop

   • General workshop that covers the promotion/tenure application, review process, deadlines and preparation strategies. Please contact Lori Emery at lmatsuza@hawaii.edu for more information.

2. UH Summer Dossier Workshop Series
   • During summer months, a Dossier Series is offered for all junior faculty, specialists, librarians, researchers, and extension agents. The series is comprised of presentations by administrators and staff from a range of Mānoa offices with expertise in professional development opportunities for faculty and by Mānoa faculty.

• UH Tenure and Promotion Information Website: Provides a widerange of resources regarding promotion/tenure including criteria and guidelines, qualifications, and videos on various application topics.
• UH Tenure, Promotion, and Contract Renewal Electronic Dossier Website: This site endeavors to promote consistency in dossier formatting and to achieve efficiencies in the review process. Requires a UH Login to enter the site.
