Arakawa's Endow First Chair in Medicine
Ken and Gemie Arakawa, grateful graduates of JABSOM, made a significant donation to establish the first named chair for the Department of Medicine at JABSOM. This endowment will help attract and retain top faculty and residents, addressing the physician shortage in Hawaiʻi. Dr. Arakawa, a rheumatologist, and his wife Gemie, a Med Tech program graduate, were motivated by their love for JABSOM and Hawaiʻi. Current Chair Dr. Scott Kuwada emphasized the importance of this gift for long-term stability, medical education, and research.
