The Medical Student Mentorship Program (MSMP)

The Medical Student Mentorship Program (MSMP) classroomMSMP is a student-run organization that pairs current medical students at JABSOM with undergraduate students across the State of Hawaiʻi interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Through these pairings, MSMP helps to foster relationships between undergraduates and medical students and faculty. Over the years, they have paired more than 600 aspiring health care professionals with medical student mentors via an extensive matching process. The mentors and their charges contact each other regularly and participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.

The McGuire Fund

The Howard & Dorothy McGuire Memorial Fund was established in 1988 by Mrs. Dorothy McGuire after the death of her husband, who was a patient of former University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine Dean Christian L. Gulbrandsen. Mrs. McGuire endowed the fund after noticing that other patients, who were not as fortunate as she and her husband, were unable to afford some basic necessities related to their health care.
