On March 11, 2025, members of the University of Hawai‘i OBGYN Department and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children leadership visited the UCSF OBGYN Department. We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Andrea Jackson, Department Chair, and Dr. Vickie Tatsis, Hospitalist Division Chief—and our former UH resident—for their hospitality and invaluable insights.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to learn about UCSF’s approach to OB Emergency Room (OB ER) and Labor & Delivery (L&D) clinical services, as well as innovative models in resident, fellow, and medical student education. These discussions provided valuable perspectives that may help enhance our own clinical and educational practices.

A key focus of our visit was exploring potential collaborations. We discussed opportunities for faculty and trainee exchanges, shared educational resources, and potential joint research projects in maternal health, patient safety, and healthcare delivery. Strengthening these academic partnerships will not only benefit both institutions but also contribute to advancing OBGYN education and clinical care.

We are grateful for the time and expertise shared by our UCSF colleagues and look forward to building on this collaboration to improve patient care, training, and research initiatives.
