APPLE is Asia Pacific Primary Liver Cancer Experts and is an international conference that typically meets in a different Asian country every year. This is an important group because 70% of the world's Liver Cancer occurs in Asia.
This meeting has never been held outside of Asia before. This year, the meeting is in Hawaii at the Sheraton Waikiki on July 18-20.
The first day of the conference is called the APPLE Academy and is more geared to trainees who may have an interest in liver disease. Hawaii has the 4th highest incidence of liver cancer in the US, so this is very relevant to us.
There will be great lectures given by international experts and it would be a fabulous opportunity for our students and residents to get to see an international meeting right here.
