Hawai‘i International Clinical Teaching Workshop (H-ICTW)

Two levels of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) workshops are offered in January to international medical educators.

The Introduction to PBL Workshop is 2.5-days, and is designed for medical educators who wish to learn the basic principles, concepts and teaching skills related to PBL.

The Advanced Topics in PBL Workshop is also a 2.5-days, and is designed for medical educators who wish to learn about more advanced topics related to PBL. Examples of these advanced topics include curriculum management, student assessment, faculty development, student development, and applying PBL in settings beyond small groups.

While completion of the “Introduction to PBL” workshop is not required to register for the “Advanced Topics” workshop, attendees will be expected to have some experience with PBL as a teaching method.

Both workshops will be led by faculty from the Office of Medical Education who are actively involved in designing, leading, teaching, assessing and research at JABSOM.

For all international workshops, English fluency is not required; however a general command of the English language is recommended. Knowledge of English medical terms is also helpful.
