Virginia (Ginny) Tanji, MSLS, MEd
Ginny (Virginia) Tanji has been a health sciences librarian since 1976. She is currently the Director of the Health Sciences Library at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She is passionate about teaching students, faculty and other health care practitioners, as well as consumers, about how to access and effectively and efficiently search for information. She has served on the Board of Regents of the National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health agency responsible for the development of PubMed MEDLINE and many other information resources. She served as chair during her final year.
She received her Master's of Science in Library Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as well as a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She has had a lifelong affair with libraries and information.
Computers have brought a profound change to how libraries operate, as well as the resources available to everyone. Ginny will be demonstrating how this affects you and showing you the kinds of free and reliable information resources available to you as a citizen of the State of Hawai‘i.
