Cass K. Nakasone, M.D., M.S.M.E.


Dr. Cass Nakasone serves as Department Chief for the Bone and Joint Center at Straub Clinic & Hospitals and also as Asst. Clinical Professor, Dept. of Orthopedics, JABSOM.  His specialty is surgery on knees and hips, including primary and revision knee arthroplasty (a surgical procedure to restore the integrity and function of a joint) , as well as primary and revision total hip arthroplasty thru a direct anterior approach.  He is a JABSOM alum and also did his internship and residency programs here in Hawai‘i.  He was also educated at Whitman College, California Institute of Technology, Stanford University and University of Southern California.

Dr. Nakasone is also involved in research projects designed to improve outcomes following total knee and hip surgeries and frequently presents nationally and internationally on his research.  He is committed to directing the improvement of surgical services related to knee and hip arthroplasty, as well as providing direction and vision for future growth amongst the four hospitals within the Hawai‘i Pacific Health Organization.

He was born and grew up in Hawai‘i and is now married with two sons.
