Ryon Nakasone, MD

Dr. Ryon Nakasone currently is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, as well as a practicing Hematologist and Medical Oncologist in Honolulu. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from UH Mānoa, he matriculated into the John A. Burns School of Medicine and followed this with training in Internal Medicine at the University of Hawai‘i Internal Medicine Residency Program. He then went on to do a Chief Resident year and then travelled to San Diego to complete his subspecialty training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Scripps Clinic.

After completing three years of Fellowship training, he travelled back home to Hawai‘i to join a private practice group and he has been busy ever since. In addition to expanding his practice, he contributes to training future physicians whenever he can. He participates in teaching and developing these young physicians who can then go and heal and help others. He is truly honored to be in the position of being a mentor and guide to the future generations of physicians who are going to help the people of Hawai‘i.

He sits on various committees - all with the goal of improving medical care in Hawai‘i and does his best to provide highest quality cancer care to those who need it. On a personal level, besides lecturing and patient care, he relishes in discovering new restaurants and spending time with family and friends. Although not kind to him, he enjoys golf as a cathartic stress reliever. If you really twist his arm, he has been known to partake in numerous hours of karaoke.
