Ritabelle Fernandes, MD, MPH, FACP

Dr. Ritabelle Fernandes is Associate Professor at the Geriatric Medicine Department of the John A Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai‘i. She is board certified in Geriatric medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a practicing geriatrician at the Kōkua Kalihi Valley and Kalihi-Palama Health Center. She has developed many programs to serve seniors, such as a memory clinic, home-based palliative care services, caregiver support groups, chronic diseases group visits and the establishment of clinics based at public housing and elder centers. Dr. Fernandes is also Associate Medical Director of Bristol Hospice and leads their supportive care pilot.

She conducts numerous family caregiver trainings in Micronesia and has just returned from Palau last week where she developed a Caregiving Certificate. She has coauthored a booklet "Services and Housing Options for Seniors on O‘ahu - 2013" that provides information on aging in place and other home and community based services. Dr Fernandes serves on the doctors' workgroup for the State Task Force on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia.
