William R. Hinshaw, Jr.
Bill Hinshaw is currently CEO and President of Axcella Health in Boston. He served as the Executive Vice President, US Oncology at Novartis where he oversaw commercial and medical operations for the business unit for more than 3 years until 2017.
Previously, Bill Hinshaw was the Head of the NCE (Northern and Central Europe) Region for Novartis Oncology where he was responsible for leading all functions across 33 countries. Prior to that role, Bill was the head of GEM (Group Emerging Markets), which included all divisions of Novartis Corporation in 50 countries worldwide.
Bill has held a series of roles in Novartis that included: US Head of the Hematology Business Franchise and Global Head of Infectious Disease and Transplantation (IDTI). Prior to joining Novartis, Bill spent 14 years at Schering Plough, where he started his career as a sales representative and then held roles of increasing responsibility, including leading the US Oncology Unit.
Recent recognitions include “2017 Pharma Voice top 100 Most Inspirational Healthcare Leaders” and “2017 Medical Marketing & Media Top 50 Healthcare Shapers”. He is passionate about transforming cancer care and improving access and the health care systems.

Bill has a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Bill has two sons, Kai and Ronan. He enjoys sports, nature, hiking, reading, travel, and learning.
