Leptin and the Biological Basis of Obesity

On Tuesday, February 25th, JABSOM will host a keynote seminar by Dr. Jeffrey Friedman, an expert investigator in the field of obesity and energy metabolism. Dr. Friedman is a Howard Hughes Investigator and leads the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics at Rockefeller University. Among his many accomplishments, some highlights include: graduating from Albany Medical College at age 22, discovering leptin and the leptin receptor, and receiving the 2010 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award.

We are greatly honored that Dr. Friedman accepted our invitation to share his vast knowledge with the students, staff, and faculty of JABSOM.

Dr. Friedman’s seminar will take place in the Sullivan Center Auditorium (UH Cancer Center) at 3PM and is entitled: “Leptin and the Biological Basis of Obesity”. His visit is supported by the Robert T. Wong Lectureship and the Diabetes Research Center.
