February 14th, 2019

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Hawai‘i CME Conference: Are you maximizing your advantage with CME accreditation?

Did you know that accredited CME can be used to meet State of Hawai‘i relicensing requirements for a multitude of health professions?

The Office of CME of the John A. Burns School of Medicine and Hawai‘i Medical Association will host a CME Conference on February 14, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the medical education building in Kaka‘ako.

Part I, Accreditation 101, from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., is a workshop for those entering the field of CME and those that want to sharpen their knowledge of accreditation. This is a preconference workshop to the ACCME’s annual meeting in Chicago. However, many of us are unable to travel to Chicago, so we are bringing Marcia Martin, ACCME’s Director of Provider Education, to Hawai‘i to conduct the workshop for us here.

-Overview of Accreditation
-Accreditation Expectations
-ACCME Commendation Criteria

In the afternoon, Part II, CME as a Mechanism for Change, from 12:30 p.m.-4 p.m., will explore the strategic value of accredited CME. Organizations will want to take advantage of this opportunity for facilitated dialogue and planning.

-Your organization as an “Educational Home”
-CME for Maintenance of Certification
-Impacting Public Health Issues
-Digging into the Criteria for Commendation
-Looking forward – making a strategic plan for education
