Patricia Blanchette, MD, MPH Interim Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs

Dr. Patricia Blanchette, MD, MPH is the Interim Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is responsible for the strategic planning and development of clinical departments at JABSOM.

Dr. Blanchette is a JABSOM alumna. She graduated with degrees from Leeward Community College and the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, and earned concurrent degrees in Medicine (JABSOM MD 1979) a Master’s in Public Health (Gerontology) from the University of Hawai’i School of Public Health.

Dr. Blanchette, recognized as a Distinguished Alumna of UH, performed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Harvard University, and obtained a Fellowship in Gerontology from Harvard. In 1994 she was wooed back to the University of Hawai’i to found a Department of Geriatric Medicine at JABSOM. She led the department and served as professor until 2012, when she was called upon to lead the JABSOM faculty practice plan as CEO. Her leadership skills were also helpful to the UH Cancer Center, where she served as its Interim Director for Administration (2014-2016) before returning to JABSOM as Interim Associate Dean.

In addition to her role as Interim Associate Dean, Dr. Blanchette also serves as the Interim Chief Medical Officer for the JABSOM faculty practice University Health Partners of Hawaiʻi (formerly known as University Clinical, Education and Research Associates). She also is an Emeritus Professor at JABSOM.

University Health Partners faculty provide outstanding patient care while serving as teachers and role models in the practice of medicine for JABSOM students, residents and fellows.
