VIDEO: Seeking The Cure – Timothy Ray Brown Addresses “Hawaii To Zero” Conference

Date: December 5th, 2015 in Giving, JABSOM News, Research    Print or PDF

More than 130 people attended the Hawaii To Zero (H20) Conference at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) on December 5, 2015 to hear remarks from arguably one of the world’s bravest patients. Timothy Ray Brown, first identified as “The Berlin Patient”, is the only person on earth to have been cured of HIV. He could have remained anonymous, as he was in the scientific journal which first reported his cure.

Instead, Mr. Brown introduced himself to the world, and dedicated his life to helping ensure that he is not the only person ever cured of HIV.

Here, in full, we present his speech. If you listen to it from beginning to end, you, too likely will recognize his great courage. And how he inspires others, including the Hawaii Center for AIDS at JABSOM, to find that cure that will work for each of the millions who suffer from the HIV and the ravages of AIDS.

Note:
The John A. Burns School of Medicine supports preservation of the Native Hawaiian Language. We respectfully use proper Hawaiian diacritical marks where we can. On-line, we may neglect them in some instances to increase search ability on the internet. Where possible we also will include versions of the word (perhaps in parentheses) with its proper markings.
