Every year, first and second-year MD students at the John A. Burns School of Medicine kick off the start of the fall season with friendly competition at the Annual MD Student Olympics– two days of sports and activities to promote health and wellness. This year’s event began with 20 pushups en masse and zumba, led by MD 2022 Class President Jester Galiza, as a warm-up to the afternoon games.
Friday, Sept. 20, 2019 was a frenzy of both mental and physical challenges that included a spelling bee, pictionary, foosball, ping pong, soccer, tug of war, spikeball, minute-to-win-it games, a relay race and video games including Super Smash and League of Legends. The next day, the students gathered at Makiki Park for basketball, tennis, volleyball, kickball, flag football and a pizza eating contest.
This year, the Class of MD 2022 redeemed their loss from the previous year and defeated the Class of MD 2023 with an overall score of 12-5. We’re rooting for you next year, MD 2023 Class!
