12:00 AM - 11:59 PM
At the 9th Weinman Symposium the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center Presents:
Dr. Phillip Allen Sharp, in an International Conference on Gene, Metabolism, and Cancer. Dr. Sharp shared the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Richard J. Roberts for “the discovery that genes in eukaryotes are not contiguous strings but contain introns, and that the splicing of messenger RNA to delete those introns can occur in different ways, yielding different proteins from the same DNAsequence”. Dr. Sharp’s current research focuses on small RNAs and other types of non-‐coding RNAs.
The Weinman Symposium and Award is supported by a generous donation from The Barry and Virginia Weinman Foundation.
The Event is Free & Open to the Public
