June 17-21, 2019: Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Summer Workshop

Dr. Monica Ward, Dr. Yukiko Yamazaki of the University of Hawaiʻi (UH) John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Institute for Biogenesis Research (IBR) and Dr. Tom Huang, UH faculty member and physician at the Kapiʻolani Medical Center will lecture and demonstrate procedures pioneered at the IBR, including ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) and the foundation for human In Vitro Fertilization using the ICSI method.

The 5-day-course will feature the practice of mouse In Vitro Fertilization and sperm freezing. The workshop is widely open to students, lab workers and researchers who are interested in these technologies.

Prior to the workshop, participants must complete online biosafety and lab safety trainings. Instruction on how to access the training will be provided to participants once registration is completed. Participants need to wear closed–toe shoes (e.g., sneakers) during the lab practice for safety.
