JABSOM Research Activities
Hawaii has its first and only research-dedicated high field Magnetic Resonance Imaging System (3T-MRI). University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine researchers Linda Chang, M.D., Thomas Ernst, Ph.D. and others are utilizing a 3-Tesla MRI to study:

• Brain Activation in Patients with Early HIV Dimentia

• Early Brain Development after Prenatal “Ice”
Exposure: A Longitudinal MR Study

• RGR-based Motion Tracking for Real-Time Adaptive
MR Imaging and Spectroscopy

• Imaging Studies in Neurotoxicity &
Neurodevelopment
